Castelar Rock Band Registration
Modern Band is limited to approximately 30 students from 4th grade to 8th grade. The students who complete sign up form first will be considered. You do not need to own an instrument to apply. Students do NOT need to own an instrument but if you do please bring it to class.

Hello Castelar families,
It’s Mr. B (Brundrett), your ETMLA music teacher at Castelar. I am excited to announce the start of the 2022/24 after-school Modern Band program beginning in September, 25 2024!
The program will be open to approximately 20 students from 4th and 5th grade, who will meet on
Thursdays (2:23 - 3:23 p.m.)
Fridays (2:23 -3: 23 p.m.)
The middle school program will be open to approximately 10- 15 students from 6th - 8th grade, who will meet on
Wednesdays (3:14 - 4:14 p.m. middle school only)
No previous instrument skills or experience are necessary, although regular attendance and instrument practice is required. Private lessons are encouraged.
Parents must also be committed to being able to pick up their student on time unless they are already enrolled in an afterschool program at Castelar.
Instruments taught include:
Drums
Percussion
Electric Bass
Electric Guitar
Piano/Keyboard
Lead Vocals
Every student will sing background vocals! Other instruments will be considered, based on the students’ skill levels. You do NOT need to own an instrument but if you do please bring it to class.
Students joining Modern Band will be expected to work together, contribute, and compromise within a group. The music studied will be based on American popular music from 1940 to the present, but styles and genres from all over the world will be considered.

Back to School
Join us at Castelar’s Back to School Event! First up at 3:30 pm will be a Meet & Mingle which is an opportunity for you to meet other Castelar families, talk to staff, chat with the PTO, and get to know some community resources such as the local public library.
At 4:30 pm the classrooms will open and you will have the chance to see. your child’s classroom, talk to teachers, and see how the first few weeks of school have been.

Spring 2024 Yum-Raising
Our Spring virtual candy store is now open until March 15, 2024! Every purchase of See’s chocolate eggs, boxed chocolates and more goes to Castelar Dragons Foundation to support student enrichment programs. Our goal is to raise $1,000 to support the Education through Music Program that provides a Rock Band Program, an Orchestra Program and music classess to every Castelar Student.
